Anoche Cantina plays into the nightlife concept and incorporates the symbolism of butterflies as an evolutionary experience from when a person hears about the brand to the moment they step inside, according to Elmore.

“Rather than just bringing in a brand and some chairs, some couches or tables, we really think about every single touch point and how do we create a personality,” Elmore says about the interior. “Maya Angelou talks about how as a person you don’t remember someone for what they say, you remember how they make you feel. We want to be memorable from the moment you see a photo of ours or an advertisement of ours to the moment you walk in.”

Shelby Elmore’s career started in 2012, when she became the very first women’s fitness writer for the sports retailer Finish Line’s new blog. In hindsight, Elmore said, the job, which she held in addition to a market research and brand development position at an influencer tech startup, solidified a passion for helping female entrepreneurs. It also refined her talent for developing strong branded content that imbues her work at Ascend today. “Shelby is no less than a dynamo,” Ascend CEO Elaina Morris wrote in her nomination of Elmore. One day, Elmore hopes to officially start a nonprofit that develops female entrepreneurs — a service for which she volunteers her free time. Finish Line Women run the Nike Women’s Half Marathon in San Francisco

On October 19th, 2014, Shelby Elmore joined 25,000 other women to take on the streets of SF for the Nike Women’s Half Marathon San Francisco while representing Finish Line Women.
